Understanding Innovation

J-InnovaTech seeks to challenge the scholarly understanding of how Japan became a global industrial power and more broadly our conceptual understanding of what is innovation and how it happens. By bringing technological change into historical focus, the project challenges the notion of innovation as disruption. Instead, drawing on the empirics from the human past, this project restores to sightline the diversity of paths to game-changing technologies.

Un premier bilan scientifique pour le projet J-InnovaTech

Rapidement après l’ouverture des frontières du Japon et le lancement officiel du projet à Tokyo, l’équipe J-InnovaTech a eu l'occasion de faire son premier bilan scientifique qui s'est tenu les 24 et 25 novembre 2022 à l'Institut scientifique de Cargèse.

Notre passion pour déchiffrer les sources a été plus forte que l'envie de l’envol estival ! Le professeur Iwaki Takuji, Directeur de l'Institut des Humanités de l’Université de Kyoto, dirigera la première école d'été du projet J-InnovaTech : un stage d’initiation à la lecture de documents en caractères cursifs ou kuzushi-ji en japonais !
